Over the past six years, the prolonged conflict in northern Mozambique has resulted in profound loss of lives and livelihoods, with a staggering number of families displaced from their homes. In 2022, the displacement reached a peak, affecting over 1 million people.

The funding, which was provided through Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) is part of KOICA’s Conflict and Fragility Programme and will help WFP support the reintegration of more than 50,000 returnees, especially women and youth, with essential food assistance and income-generation opportunities.

The contribution will be used to provide treatment and prevention services to over 90,000 malnourished pregnant and breastfeeding women and children under five suffering in Cabo Delgado, Nampula and Niassa provinces. “A nutritious diet is an inherent component of care and treatment in the context of food insecurity,” says Antonella D’Aprile, WFP’s Country Director in Mozambique.
