Assessment was conducted in September 2016, involving interviews in some 619 households. A two stage sampling design was employed including selection of 54 Enumeration Areas (EAs). Probability proportional to population size was employed in the first stage to select the EAs while in the second stage, households were selected using systematic random sampling.

The agreement was signed between HE Dr Abdullah Al Rabeeah, Royal Court Advisor and Supervisor General of KSrelief, and Ms. Cindy McCain, WFP’s Executive Director.  The USD 5 million will be allocated to WFP operations in Gaza for life-saving food assistance provision to internally displaced Palestinians.

The agreement was signed between HE Dr Abdullah Al Rabeeah, Royal Court Advisor and Supervisor General of KSRelief, and WFP Executive Director Cindy McCain.

In September 2017, an assessment was conducted in Juba urban areas (including Kator, Juba town, and Munuki) to understand the current food security and nutrition status of the urban population.

The contribution of dates will enhance the nutritional value of WFP’s food assistance to vulnerable groups such as pregnant and breastfeeding women and hospital patients, ensuring they receive the necessary nutrients for their well-being. “The donation from KSrelief comes at a critical time as WFP is currently facing funding challenges,” said WFP Country Director and Representative Sarah Gordon

The aircraft was carrying humanitarian cargo from Bor. The two crew members on board suffered injuries. They were treated at a local clinic and are in a stable condition. The accident was followed by a fire that spread to huts adjacent to the airstrip. Three people died on the ground and two others were injured. WFP is deeply saddened by this tragic loss of life.

WFP procured nearly 4,000 metric tons of food, including fortified wheat flour, yellow split peas, fortified vegetable oil and salt. Benefiting from a drop in global food commodity prices, WFP was able to buy one third more food than initially anticipated.

This appeal follows the release of the WFP-FAO Hunger Hotspots report which warns that South Sudan is a country of highest concern where humanitarian action is essential to prevent starvation and death.WFP currently has no food supplies in South Sudan to preposition for next year’s humanitarian response and needs US$404 million to frontload assistance.

The contribution, received last September, supported the provision of food assistance to 53,110 Syrian refugees, nearly half the population living in Zaatari and Azraq camps during the months of October, November and December 2022.
