Persistent insecurity, the climate crisis, and high food and fuel prices have exacerbated food insecurity in Chad, which hosts 592,800 refugees, more than any other country in West and Central Africa.

The worsening economic crisis, decades of conflict and years of severe drought have put Afghanistan on the brink of a humanitarian catastrophe: 23 million people now face acute hunger.

“Learning with an empty stomach is hard. The school feeding programme in Afghanistan helps increase enrolment, attendance and retention in primary school, for boys and girls. School feeding improves learning abilities and the well-being of the children who are the next generation of Afghanistan”, said Raffaella Iodice, the EU Chargée d’Affaires a.i.
