The Monitoring, Review and Evaluation (MRE) unit of the WFP Country Office Nepal commissioned a Post-Distribution Monitoring (PDM) of the Forecast-based Anticipatory Action (FbAA) programme implemented in Kailali, Bardiya and Banke districts affected by the October 2022 floods.
“We truly are in an unprecedented crisis. Food pricing is our number one problem right now, as a result of all this perfect storm for 2022. But by 2023 it very well will be a food availability problem.
The evaluation aimed to assess the implementation of the Joint Programme and generate lessons for future initiatives. It focused on relevance, effectiveness, efficiency, and sustainability, and covered activities by all participating organizations and partners.
At the request of the government, a joint FAO/WFP Crop and Food Security Assessment Mission (CFSAM) visited the country from 14 November to 2 December 2022 to estimate the 2022 crop production, to forecast the country’s import requirements for 2023 and to estimate the number of food insecure people.
