WFP is rapidly scaling up its emergency operations in Sudan, every day reaching thousands more people whose lives have been upended by the ongoing fighting. WFP is ramping up to assist 4.9 million vulnerable people in Sudan and thousands more who have fled to neighbouring countries.

The project’s research initiatives will cover over 9,000 households, providing the government of Timor-Leste with critical data needed to address concerning rates of food insecurity.

The immense scale of the damage is becoming clearer, but the situation is likely to deteriorate, and the number of people affected is expected to increase as heavy rains are forecast to continue. Assessing the extent of the damage and needs remains a huge challenge.
