“India has successfully promoted millets for climate resilience, food security, and small farmers' livelihoods, particularly women, during the International Year of Millets 2023.

Nearly eight million people remain displaced from their homes, of which 644,000 are in relief camps. The floodwaters have receded in some areas, but scores of communities continue to find themselves cut off, creating challenges for the delivery of food assistance and other essential aid.

This innovative digital solution replaces the outdated paper system, bringing the power of digital technology to optimize the PDS and enhance user experience.

The contribution, which has been provided through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), comes at a critical time, with some 3.15 million people facing high levels of food insecurity in the country, according to the latest Integrated Phase Classification (IPC).

With support from the authorities in Goma, and other actors, WFP was able to deliver 26 metric tons of special nutritious food to 8,000 children suffering from acute malnutrition, pregnant and breastfeeding mothers in 12 health centers across Rutshuru Territory.
