In the first quarter of 2023 (January-March), rainfall patterns in Indonesia were mostly within the normal range compared to the average rainfall recorded over the past 30 years. The triple-dip La Niña phenomenon, which persisted for three consecutive years since 2020, has finally ended.

From April to June 2023 rainfall conditions varied geographically across Indonesia. The Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) reported that approximately 60 of the regions in Indonesia entered dry season as of June 2023 and meteorological drought was noticed in Java, Bali, and Nusa Tenggara.
