The 2016 Vulnerability Assessment of Syrian Refugees (VASyR) surveyed a representative sample of Syrian refugee households in Lebanon to identify changes and trends in their situation. The assessment continues to provide valuable insight into refugees’ living conditions, from the size of their families to the shelter they live in, to their economic vulnerability and food insecurity.
The assessment was undertaken as a follow up to the Zimbabwe Vulnerability Assessment Committee (ZimVAC) 2015 Rural Livelihoods Assessment (RLA) conducted in June which identified about 16% of the rural population (approximately 1,5 million people) as food insecure during the lean period.
Highlights:
Assessment findings confirm the correlation between the reductions in humanitarian support to Syrian refugees and the increase in the number of Syrians risking their lives in the hope of a better future in EU countries.
Returns to Syria amongst refugee families living in Jordanian communities increased by 17 percent between the first week of August and the first week
The Rapid Food Security Assessment was implemented by Voluntas Advisory together with Diwan Market Research on behalf of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) to provide up-to-date-information on critical food related needs of displaced population in Libya.
The assessment objective was to evaluate the impact of the current EVD outbreak on the food security and livelihoods situation. The effects of EVD are complex and indirect effects also play a major role to understand the impact of this epidemic.

In 2014 WFP partnered with a local government to prevent and reduce anemia in children between the ages of two and five years. Seven months after the start of the programme, blood samples showed that iron deficiency in targeted children was halved in 61,000 children; from 25.5 percent to 11.2 percent.
A Situation Report is a concise operational document with latest updates on the World Food Programme's (WFP) response to an emergency. It gives an overview of WFP’s activities and informs the wider humanitarian community and other interested stakeholders about WFP’s response.
