Extreme weather caused by climate change is affecting farmers’ livelihoods in Rwanda. The Saemaul Zero Hunger Communities Project (SZHC) aims to improve food security, reduce poverty levels among vulnerable populations, and increase living standards in Rwanda’s poorest districts by increasing access to livelihood assets.

1 in 3 Afghans – 14 million people – are hungry today while 2 million children are malnourished. With drought, pandemic, and conflict, the food security situation will continue to worsen; and a great tide of hunger is soon arriving.

In Zimbabwe, erratic weather cause by climate change and the economic meltdown, have pushed half the population into hunger and poverty, in Mwenezi district in the south of the country, farmers have struggled to meet their basic needs.

Social protection systems are vital for supporting vulnerable populations but often overlook their nutritional needs, missing opportunities to advance SDG 2 amid rising hunger since 2015.
