Rapid and substantial economic transformations over the past 35 years in the People’s Republic of China have translated into remarkable progress in poverty reduction and social development. By lifting millions out of hunger, the country met its Millennium Development Goal of halving the number of hungry people by 2015 and reduced the global hunger rate by two thirds.

Niger is a landlocked country in the Sahel. With nearly 80 percent of its population living in rural areas, soil degradation and limited access to arable land and water are major drivers of food insecurity. About 3.2 million people are acutely food insecure.  

This contribution marks a historical milestone as it is one of the first times that Mongolia has donated funds to WFP - reaffirming their international solidarity and commitment to Zero Hunger. “This humanitarian aid is an expression of the warm sentiments of the Mongolian people dedicated to the Cuban people who are going through complex social and economic times,” said Ambassador of Mongolia

With this contribution WFP will work closely with the Government of The Gambia to distribute emergency food assistance to severely food insecure people, and provide fortified blended foods to malnourished children under 5, pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers.

This formative regional evaluation has two main objectives: learning and accountability. Emphasizing learning, the evaluation aims to understand high-level outcomes and extract lessons and good practices. For accountability, it identifies the results achieved from implementing the SRSP framework and pillar of the Regional Social Protection Strategy (2019) by WFP in LAC.

The so-called “Kaizen” management approach supports an environment of continuous learning, integration, and innovation in a culture of continuous improvement, based on the idea that small, ongoing positive changes can reap significant positive developments.

The DICT and WFP co-designed the world’s first MOVE vehicles, boasting cutting-edge technology tailored to facilitate on-site coordination during emergencies.
