“Large-scale humanitarian assistance over the past two years has helped pull back millions of Afghans from the brink of starvation and we are now seeing an improvement of the overall food security situation,“ said Hsiao-Wei Lee, Country Director of WFP Afghanistan.

The report gives an overview of WFP’s global social protection engagements in 2022, categorized across key elements of the WFP Strategy for Support to Social Protection. It presents WFP’s work at policy and programmes levels, giving insights on key social protection stories.

The Bulletin provides an overview of the inflation and exchange rates in Fiji, as well as food and fuel prices and trends in the country for 2022.

“The humanitarian needs have reached record levels in Sudan and there is still no sign of an end to the conflict,” says Eddie Rowe, WFP’s Country Director in Sudan. “WFP is doing everything possible to deliver life-saving assistance to millions of people in Sudan and thousands more who have fled to neighbouring countries, but we cannot do it alone.

The last year brought unprecedented challenges for people around the world as they continued to grapple with the effects of climate change. For over a decade, WFP has prioritised advancing financial protection as a means of building resilience to extreme weather events—an essential part of its mandate of saving lives and changing lives.

Systems and structures of management

Launched in January 2022, WFP’s Evaluation Methods Advisory Panel (EMAP) aims to provide advice on WFP’s evaluations to improve evaluation methodology, approaches and methods, identifying systemic and structural challenges and shed light on international best practices and innovations on methods in evaluation.

The security situation is still highly precarious. WFP is considering locations where humanitarian access is assured while strongly considering security, capacity and access-related considerations.

The TOR notably presents the scope, objectives, key issues, stakeholders and users of the evaluation. It also describes the evaluation approach, team composition and organization.
