The three UN agencies are working to strengthen the livelihoods of vulnerable communities and households – particularly female heads of households – by helping them gain improved market access while diversifying their incomes. The overall focus of the initiative is to promote more resilient communities with greater gender equality and more social cohesion.

Food System Summit 2021, provides chronological as well as strategic insights into India's journey from a food starved and import-dependent country to a food surplus, and now a net exporter. This funding builds on the original $2.5 million, equivalent to four million emergency meals, that Tesfaye directed to WFP’s Gaza response in December 2023. It provided 820 metric tons of food parcels to feed more than 173,000 Palestinians for two weeks. Additionally, Tesfaye is making an urgent appeal to fans, calling on them to give what they can by donating towards WFP's efforts in Gaza.

WFP’s approach is to support Pacific governments and regional organizations to better anticipate, prepare for and respond to the impacts of climate change and other shocks on food security and nutrition, with a particular focus on those most at risk of being left behind

The funding will help WFP to provide much needed food assistance to Sahrawi refugees in Tindouf (Algeria) and vulnerable people in Mali, Mauritania, North-East Nigeria and Palestine who suffer the consequences of conflict.

In Zimbabwe, WFP supports the development and mainstreaming of an anticipatory action system with the aim of moving towards proactive risk management.
