Food fortification is the addition of important micronutrients to foods to enhance its nutritional value safely and cost-effectively.

On Wednesday morning, a group of armed men entered WFP’s compound in Mekelle and forcibly seized 12 tankers filled with over half a million litres of fuel.  This fuel had recently been purchased by WFP and arrived just days before it was stolen. Without it, it is impossible for WFP to distribute food, fertilizer, medicines and other emergency supplies across Tigray.

WFP will use this donation to provide in-kind food rations to over 73,000 of the poorest and most food-insecure Palestinians for three months.

The need to strengthen community-based risk management is particularly relevant in Indonesia given their geographical location and susceptibility to natural disasters. This study is part of WFP’s technical assistance on emergency preparedness and response.

The report  focusses on those countries and territories where the magnitude and severity of the food crisis exceed the local resources and capacities.

Under this funding, 1,818 families in Salavanh Province will receive small cash grants to support them meet their immediate food needs and invest in strengthening livelihood activities such as home gardens and livestock rearing. Building on earlier nutrition activities, beneficiaries will be guided on agriculture and animal rearing, alongside education in nutrition and climate resilience.
