WFP’s role in fighting undernutrition is not only to treat it but also to prevent it being part of its contribution to addressing sustainable development goal 2 of ending hunger, achieving food security and improved nutrition and promoting sustainable agriculture.

In many areas of Myanmar, WFP has long been the most reliable and regular source of food security and vulnerability information, helping to inform the program work of WFP and other stakeholders to tackle the issues of food insecurity in the country.

Fighting malnutrition and saving lives have always been a WFP priority. Under the current three-year Protracted Relief and Recovery Operation, WFP Myanmar carries out multifaceted nutrition interventions to tackle malnutrition in Magway, Rakhine, Kachin and Shan by providing the right food at the right time.
