The WFP Centre of Excellence against Hunger in Brazil works closely with regional and national stakeholders (governments, private sector and institutions) to expand food and nutrition security policies and programmes from a multi-sector perspective, particularly social safety net programmes that include school feeding connected to local agriculture and nutrition (home-grown school feeding—HGSF).

The past decade has witnessed a boom in the availability of satellite data whether from established space agencies or from the private sector. Unique in their ability to screen the entire Earth, satellites provide timely and objective data at a variety of spatial and temporal scales. In doing so, it can address a broad range of applications - e.g.

These challenging times, brought on by the global COVID-19 pandemic, compel humanitarian and development agencies like WFP to demonstrate innovation, efficiency, and perseverance to keep meeting the needs of vulnerable populations through the delivery of quality services.

Under its Country Strategic Plan (2018-2022) in Palestine, WFP seeks to improve the food security and nutrition status of the most vulnerable and poorest non-refugee Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank (SDG2) and strengthen the capacities of the national institutions for an enhanced response to food insecurity while forging partnerships with diverse stakeholders (SDG 17)to achieve these goals.

Occasional Papers are prepared by various WFP offices as background or reference materials ultimately leading to discussions around policy and programme activities.
