Eight years of war in Syria have pushed millions of Syrians into hunger and poverty. The conflict has also displaced millions both inside and outside Syria. While many are returning to their homes, many others remain displaced and need support. As fighting has escalated in recent weeks in north-western Syrian, WFP has responded to the needs of those who have been displaced from their homes.

The most recent El Niño event is one of the five strongest on record and has led to significant alterations in weather patterns around the world exacerbating the impacts of the global climate crisis, resulting in more frequent and intense droughts, floods and tropical cyclones.

Tanzania is a lower-middle-income country with a population of 61 million. The country has experienced steady economic growth in recent years. However, 27 percent of the population still live below the poverty line and an additional 8 percent live in extreme poverty.
