Geneva - The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), stands ready to provide assistance to Tonga following the eruption of the Hunga Tonga Hunga Ha-apai underwater volcano in the Pacific on 15 January.

In 2021, the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) in Sri Lanka assisted 183,683 people, including school children and people with pre-existing vulnerabilities and those economically affected by COVID-19, under four strategic outcomes.

In 2020, WFP conducted energy activities in 20 countries, meeting the cooking needs of food insecure populations by distributing stoves to households and institutional cookstoves to schools. In addition, smallholder farmers are supported with energy products or services such as solar water pumps.

The edition of the Quarterly Bulletin by the United Nations World Food Programme in India has updates on partnerships with the Government of Meghalaya, NITI Aayog, and M.S.
