A record 12.4 million people in Syria, some 60 percent of population, do not know where their next meal is coming from. Food prices have increased by 222 percent in a year, driven by the tumbling value of the Syrian pound, continuing fuel shortages and ongoing conflict.

New York – The situation in the eight places in the world with the highest number of people in need of emergency food support shows that the link between conflict and hunger remains all too persistent and deadly, according to a new report released today by the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the World Food Programme (WFP).
