Nutrition Factsheet

In Lao PDR, 44 percent of children under 5 years of age are stunted as a result of a poor diet, often lacking in essential micronutrients, fats and proteins as well as experiencing recurrent illness. WFP has been operating a Mother and Child Health and Nutrition (MCHN) Programme since 2012 (piloted in 2011) which aims to prevent stunting in children under 2 years of age by targeting the first 1,000 days of life.  The factsheet provides an overview of the MCHN Programme in Lao PDR including programme coverage, activities, sustainability, results, beneficiary perspective, funding and partners.
