The MoU was signed by UN Women Lebanon’s Representative, Gielan Elmessiri, and WFP Lebanon’s Representative and Country Director, Abdallah Alwardat.
This collaboration involves conducting regular research to evaluate gender equality and social inclusion aspects in assistance programmes.
The first cross-border movement took place on 16 June carrying 50 metric tons of essential food assistance from Egypt to Sudan. The assistance will help to alleviate the suffering of thousands of people who have become highly vulnerable due to the conflict.
The establishment of the humanitarian corridor is led by WFP, in partnership with Egypt's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
WFP is committed to ensuring that its humanitarian assistance in Ukraine contributes to the recovery and sustainability of food systems, injects money directly in the local economy, and promotes employment.
It was carried out in 2022. This mid-term evaluation was commissioned to assess progress toward programme indicator targets, ensure accountability, generate lessons learned, and inform course corrections for the remainder of the programme period, and was intended for both accountability and learning purposes.
WFP is temporarily expanding its cash assistance to the most vulnerable people this winter to help them cover their basic needs, such as food and energy costs.
