Aumsat, Fonio, Blue Marble, Etherisc, Emerging Cooking Solutions project, MegaGas, and Africa GreenTec are the seven start-ups that showcased their innovations, to potential funders, local and international partners.
Each family will receive a food basket – valued at LKR 15,000 (approximately EUR 40) and consisting of eggs, rice, fresh milk, red lentils and other protein-rich pulses – every fortnight over a period of one year.

The cyclone brought torrential rains and flash floods - the worst in 40 years, with Dili, the capital, hardest hit. Following the disaster, the Government declared a State of Calamity and called for international assistance.

Japan’s contribution is helping displaced families in Iraq, as well as Urban Livelihoods resilience-building projects, supporting vulnerable people to return to work during the COVID-19 crisis.
“Japan has provided over US$500 million as humanitarian assistance to people affected by the crisis in Iraq since 2014.
The Republic of Korea’s donation will contribute to WFP’s emergency response that aims to reach up to 2.1 million people with urgently needed food and nutrition assistance.
WFP will support an additional 195,000 people, aiming to reach a total of 300,000 people per month through the National Poverty Targeting Programme (NPTP) of the Ministry of Social Affairs which is developing the national social protection framework and strategy.
