In Timor-Leste, El Niño is expected to negatively affect the affordability of food and imported as well as local retail rice prices were already above previoius year levels in June 2023. Retail prices of other food items were also mostly above their levels in June 2022, especially sugar which peaked at values 113 percent higher year-on-year.
