The FAO Food Price Index remained stable in October 2022 compared to the previous month – but global wheat, maize and rice prices were on the rise again amidst renewed uncertainties around the Black Sea Grain Initiative.

In Cambodia, the cost of the basic food basket (BFB) increased by +7.0 percent compared to Sept’22 and now stands at US$28.4 per capita/month. This is chiefly driven by the spike in the price of morning glory (+38.8 percent MoM), amidst large-scale flooding in September/early October. The WFP seasonal monitor confirms that flash floods caused by excess rainfall have significantly damaged agricultural crop production in the provinces surrounding the Tonle Sap.
