We respond to the world's worst emergencies

WFP is the leading agency on the frontlines of global emergencies. As a steady stream of people are pushed into hunger by conflict, the climate crisis, and economic shocks, support from the EU in places like Palestine, Ukraine, Yemen, and Afghanistan show their commitment to those most in need.

We remain committed to forgotten crises

As major new conflicts dominate the headlines, prolonged, devastating crises can receive limited attention. Year after year, WFP and the EU do everything we can to leave no one behind, supporting those who remain trapped in these ‘forgotten crises’ in places like Haiti, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Algeria.

We help people cope with climate extremes

Climate change remains one of the main drivers of global hunger. Droughts, floods and storms devastate agricultural lands, ruin crops and wreak havoc on vulnerable communities. Together with the European Union, WFP works in some of the most fragile environments and helps affected populations cope with climate extremes.

We transport humanitarians to the front lines

The European Union supports the United Nations Humanitarian Air Service, managed by WFP, which gives equal access to all humanitarian groups and brings them to people in need of assistance. The EU also supports WFP through EU Humanitarian Aid flights, especially in areas where no surface transport is possible.
