Together, WFP and the EU work in advance to reduce the risk of disasters when they strike. We pre-allocate cash, use forecasting to predict crises in advance, and make sure those affected are resilient enough to recover.

It costs less to mobilize a humanitarian response just before a disaster strikes rather than after. It can save more lives. And in the long-term, it makes people more resilient. When humanitarian response is pre-planned, people can recover faster, and we can better mitigate the worst effects of the climate crisis.
